Terms of use
Plain-English terms for using this website.

Who we are
This website is run by Andrew Probert trading as Was It Real?, Wigan, United Kingdom. Contact: wasitreal@mail.grokbot.com.
What our verdicts are
Verdicts, scores and labels such as “Real deal”, “Normal price” and “Was-price not supported by our data” are our opinion, produced automatically from the prices we have tracked using our published method. They are not a statement of fact about a retailer’s conduct, and not a finding that anyone has broken a law or rule. Our data can be incomplete: for example, we see prices once a day, we cannot see sales volumes, and we may not see prices on every channel.
Prices change
Prices and availability change often. Always check the price on the retailer’s website before buying. The retailer’s price at checkout is the one that applies.
Where our prices come from
We started tracking prices on 13 October 2026. Once a day we record the price shown on each retailer’s public product page. We never estimate or invent past prices. Until we have 30 days of our own records for a product, we say “Not enough data yet” instead of giving a verdict.
Affiliate links
“Check price on Amazon” links are Amazon affiliate links, labelled #ad: as an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases. They open an Amazon search, and we do not show or check Amazon prices. Other retailer links are plain links. See our affiliate disclosure. When you buy from a retailer, your contract is with that retailer, not with us.
Using the site
You may use the site for personal, non-commercial purposes. Please do not scrape it at scale, interfere with how it works, or present our verdicts as your own. Our text, design and scoring output are our copyright, apart from material we link to or quote from others.
Our responsibility to you
We provide the site free of charge and “as is”. We work to keep it accurate, but we cannot guarantee that it is complete, up to date or available at all times. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, such as for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
Corrections
If you think something is wrong, see our contact and corrections page.
Law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you live elsewhere in the UK, you may also be able to bring proceedings in your local courts.
